From Broadcast Depth Episode 10: ‘Deus Ex Machina’ & ‘Do No Harm’

From Broadcast Depth

This week, Kevin and Ben say farewell to the first major player in LOST whose time on the Island has come to an end. As this podcast reaches double digits, a few key moments occur as LOST heads to the end of its first season. Locke once upon a time told Walt his Dad was not “a cool guy”, and as you’ll find out, that turns out to be a huge understatement (spoiler: his Mom isn’t so great either.) Not nearly as interesting is Jack’s wedding day, which belongs somewhere more akin to the Hallmark channel than it does LOST, gets it’s own burial of sorts on this weeks episode too. From Broadcast Depth Episode 9: ‘…In Translation’ & ‘The Numbers’

From Broadcast Depth

Ah, yes, THE numbers. Hurley’s first flashback episode (finally!) gives us six numbers that dramatically shape the show forever, and add a new segment to the podcast. Without a doubt, is it one of the most crucial (and fun) episodes of the first season. Jin also fills in the blanks of the first flashback episode with Sun and himself, and wouldn’t ya know it? Not all is what it seems! After this week, no episode of From Broadcast Depth will be the same again.

From Broadcast Depth Episode 8: ‘Homecoming’ & ‘Outlaws’

From Broadcast Depth

Oh you didn’t know? This is the second episode of From Broadcast Depth where episodes featuring Charlie and Sawyer are discussed. We take a look back at Charlie’s attempt to settle down and come clean and why that went awry.

Then, Sawyer travels to Australia in the hunt for the man who killed his daddy, and ends up breaking liquid bread with somebody else’s daddy. Josh Holloway gives a breakout performance in one of the best episodes of the season.

From Broadcast Depth Episode 7: ‘Hearts and Minds’ & ‘Special’

From Broadcast Depth

Four survivors get their first flashback treatment this week! Not all is what it seems when Boone goes to “save” Shannon from an abusive boyfriend in the Outback, nor is all what it seems when he rescues her from a boar attack in the jungle. We discover what led to Michael and Walt reuniting and some of the strange activity that has occurred in Walt’s life, and more on the comic book with the polar bear.

From Broadcast Depth Episode 6: ‘All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues’ & ‘Whatever The Case May Be’

From Broadcast Depth

Jack becomes the first character to receive a second flashback as we explore how he and his father clashed professionally and the issues it caused between them.

Boone and Locke also make a major discovery in the jungle. Unfortunately, for those who waited an entire month to find out what that was on the next episode, they would be let down with the worst episode of the first season and no further explanation as to what that discovery was. At least the music at the end is good? We’re halfway done with Season One! Continue reading From Broadcast Depth Episode 6: ‘All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues’ & ‘Whatever The Case May Be’

From Broadcast Depth Episode 5: ‘Solitary’ & ‘Raised by Another’

From Broadcast Depth

Two crucial episodes of Season 1 are discussed on this week’s From Broadcast Depth. The survivors discover first hand that they aren’t the only ones on the island, as Sayid is captured by the mysterious Rousseau, and the others discover an impostor among them with ulterior motives. We learn about Sayid’s Republican Guard past, the jerk of a father to Claire’s baby, and some great Hurley moments to boot. This is where the LOST addiction kicks in, kids! Continue reading From Broadcast Depth Episode 5: ‘Solitary’ & ‘Raised by Another’

From Broadcast Depth Episode 4: ‘The Moth’ & ‘Confidence Man’

From Broadcast Depth

This weeks episode answers some questions of a beloved, and not so beloved character. First, we learn about Charlie’s rock star background, his brother, and how he turned into a junkie.

Then, we turn our attention to Sawyer and explore his life as a con man and what childhood event turned him to that choice of “career.” There’s talk about the “Skater” fans and a pretty severe torture scene. As you can tell, it’s all fun and smiles in this 80 minute aural adventure! Continue reading From Broadcast Depth Episode 4: ‘The Moth’ & ‘Confidence Man’

7 Things To Know About the Blade Episodes of Spider-Man: The Animated Series

Given The Reel World’s past exploration of Spider-Man and its more current exploration of Blade, it seemed fitting to briefly take a look at the one time the characters crossed paths on the small screen. Here are by far the seven most notable things that happened in these two episodes. Welcome to the retconned first edition of Marvelous Animation!

From Broadcast Depth Episode 3 – ‘White Rabbit’ & ‘House of the Rising Sun’

From Broadcast Depth

This week in From Broadcast Depth, we learn about Jack and what trauma in his life may be causing him to see visions of his father on the island. We also get to see the tumultuous romance of Sun and Jin back in Korea and what led them to Flight 815 in an emotional roller coaster. Continue reading From Broadcast Depth Episode 3 – ‘White Rabbit’ & ‘House of the Rising Sun’

From Broadcast Depth Episode 2: ‘Tabula Rasa’ & ‘Walkabout’

From Broadcast Depth

For some survivors of Flight Oceanic 815, a clean start may just be what they need. This week, Kevin and Ben discuss the back stories of Kate and Locke that are revealed and how they inform what’s going on with the mysterious island, and what brought them to Australia. Why would Locke feel comfortable posting on r/ForeverAlone? Why is it a good idea to pretend to be Canadian in another country? All this and more await you on this weeks episode!
