Unwillingly brought to the Island, Desmond is forced to be hit with yet another electromagnetic blast and his mind travels into our flash sideways where we see how his life with Widmore, Penny, Eloise, and others is very different than it is in the main timeleine. Speaking of different, we get a look into Hurley’s life as an entrepreneur and philanthropist who has no memory of Libby, although she certainly has memories of him, and the return of Michael.

The death of a character leads to criticism from Ben, a puzzling group split brings criticism from both hosts, and the answer of what the whispers are lead to a discussion on the pay off and if it was worthwhile. After a three episode absence, Sawyer makes his return to the show, where we experience his life as a cop in our alternate timeline. Another character who has been searching for the Island for quite awhile finally finds it, and Sawyer uses their return as a plan to get himself home once and for all.
