The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles was a television show from 1992-1994 that was exactly  what it sounds like. It featured Sean Patrick Flanery playing Indiana for most of the show (a few episodes apparently featured a child playing an even younger Indiana).

As everyone learned (again) with Solo though, it’s not that Han Solo or Indiana Jones are these remarkable characters or anything. It’s that Harrison Ford is one of the biggest movie stars of all time that make them iconic. They are star vehicle characters.

Anyway, all of that is a long way to say that very few moments of the show that I have seen have been absolutely brutal. I decided to watch one episode of it properly though for one simple reason: Harrison Ford was in it!

Without further ado, here are some takeaways from “Young Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the Blues.”

The Best Inland Empire Writing (that I have found so far)

One of the great joys of watching great and interesting movies is that it can lead to so much interesting writing. The level of writing that makes you feel like you are experiencing the film in a new way or opens you up to new ideas. The type of writing that inspires you think deeper about what you have watched.

One of the best films to read great writing about is one of my favorites, Inland Empire. With the recent restoration supervised by Lynch himself that has led to limited screenings in theaters and an upcoming new physical disc in 2023 by Criterion, it has become a great time to read about Inland.

This article takes a look at some great new writing on the film but also some interesting things written about the film before the recent restoration. This article will be updated in the future as more great pieces are made about this remarkable film (or I just find other great ones that have already been written). Ranking the Parks & Recreation Seasons

Parks & Recreation was aight. It was basically a nicecore version of The Office (US) with extremely bad politics. That does sound really bad when you put it like that. There were fun moments, episodes, and strong characterizations in the early years. As the years went on, the show got progressively less good, and that is mostly reflected in the rankings of the seasons. Continue reading Ranking the Parks & Recreation Seasons

Rules: I am making some very strict restrictions for who could qualify for this very important. The character could not have ever been in the main cast. The character could never have been the big bad of a season. They also had to appear in more than one season. Do these rules seem arbitrary? Yes? But it’s my list. Beyond its star, Timothy Olyphant, Justified recognized what a fond idea it would be to cast so many actors from Deadwood. More films and television programs should do this. Here is how I rank their appearances on Justified. Continue reading Ranking the Appearances from Deadwood Actors in Justified

Ranking the Batman Films (Again, but better this time!)

Matt Waters and Mike Thomas ranked the Batman films back in 2017. Five years later we are doing it again but bringing Jerome Cusson and Ben Phillips along for the ride this time.

We also laid some new ground rules. 1.) The film had to receive a wide theatrical release. 2.) Justice League and Suicide Squad movies do not count, but v. Superman does.

Again, here are the voters.

Matt Waters
Jerome Cusson
Ben Phillips
Mike Thomas

12) Batman & Robin

Ranking the Batman Actors

Montage Tall

Somehow, we have never ranked the Batman actors??? Well, our long international nightmare is over. We brought in the best minds in the biz to finally crack this conundrum.

To clarify, this is specifically looking at actors who have played Batman in a film that received a wide theatrical release. Sorry, Diedrich Bader.

Here are the voters:

Matt Waters
Jerome Cusson
Ben Phillips
Mike Thomas

9) George Clooney

5 Really Good Things About Constantine

Constantine is a good film. I did not see it until 2018, and it got a little overhyped to me by Twitter so my expectations were not met. I finally gave it another go in 2022, and yes, I can confirm it is quite good. Give the people what they want (a sequel to Constantine). Anyway, these were my five favorite things about the movie.

1. Keanu!
