A new character, a new DHARMA station, two deaths, AND two characters turn out to be related? This episode has it all!

It’s been over a year since Sayid and Claire received the flashback treatment, and that is remedied with two very enjoyable episodes, including one in Ben’s Top 10. A new part of the Island is explored, more games are introduced, and…a submarine?

From Broadcast Depth – Episode 29: ‘Stranger in a Strange Land’ & ‘Tricia Tanaka is Dead’

We’ve reached a landmark, friends, as we cover the worst episode in LOST history!

“Stranger in a Stange Land” holds the dishonorable distinction of being universally hated by the fans and show creators alike, and we talk about all the reasons why that is. Not only is it bad episode, but it changed the course of the show’s history forever. This is the longest non-two part episode discussion to date and for good reason.

Thankfully, this episode is followed by one of the funniest episodes in the shows history at this point, where Hurley finds a van on the island and uses that as a tool to cheer himself and Charlie up, and incidentally bond with Jin and Sawyer. Coming off the first four episodes this debut season of The Leftovers wasn’t boasting an incredible hit ratio. Fortunately things begin to climb thanks to the shocking ‘Gladys’ and another off-format character-focused episode in ‘Guest’ about our beloved sweet angel, Nora. So grab yourself some kevlar, crank up the Slayer and make sure your PayPal account is in order.

From Broadcast Depth – Episode 28: ‘Not in Portland’ & ‘Flashes Before Your Eyes’

The six episode story arc that opened the third season of LOST ended with a bit of a whimper; not the ideal way for a show to end before a three month hiatus. However, there’s no denying the came back from that hiatus with a one-two punch of tremendous episodes.

Juliet gets her first flashback that explains her past in science and how she came to the island. We pick up where we left off to see whether or not Jack complete the spinal surgery on Ben and if Sawyer and Kate successfully make it back to their Island.

Desmond receives what isn’t truly a flashback, but what is considered a “mind travel” back in time, where he exists in 1996 but retains all of his memories from the Island. This of course creates a great deal of confusion, anxiety, theories on Time Travel, and a chance encounter with a future Island mate. This is one of the more interesting episodes to date.

From Broadcast Depth – Bonus Episode: The Lost Experience & Ant-Man and The Wasp

Between Season 2 and 3, the creators of LOST made an alternate reality game called “The Lost Experience”, which expanded the backstory of the DHARMA Initiative. It was designed to satiate the most die hard of fans who wanted more answers than the show could provide, and involved so many pieces it’s remarkable it even happened at all. Ben and Kevin discuss, if they feel it was a success, and what the ARG was and what the most important takeaways from it were.

From there, the duo discusses the last entrant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man and the Wasp! With the beloved Kate Austen in a titular role, it only felt right to do so. They discuss their thoughts on the movie, some LOST flashbacks they experienced, why it is other LOST actors haven’t achieved a similar level of success, and a story that of an obnoxious movie-goer. It goes without saying there are MCU spoilers in this one!
